Good To Know

Meemu Atoll, also known as Mulakatholhu, is located in the southern part of the Maldives. Comprising 33 islands, of which 9 are inhabited, the atoll is a perfect retreat for those seeking a blend of tranquility, unspoiled nature, and marine exploration. The administrative capital, Muli, is home to around 750 residents and serves as the atoll’s central hub. Meemu is renowned for its vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life, making it an ideal destination for diving enthusiasts. The atoll boasts some of the region’s top diving sites, including Mulee Island, considered one of the best spots to experience the wonders of the underwater world. During the monsoon season, divers may even encounter giant manta rays, offering a breathtaking experience.

With its calm waters and gentle currents, Meemu is also perfect for beginner divers, who can enjoy spectacular and easily accessible dive sites. While the famous Shark’s Tongue—one of the most challenging dive spots in the area—reaches depths of up to 90 meters, there are plenty of other opportunities to explore marine life in more relaxed conditions.

How to get there: After arriving at Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé or at Dhaalu Airport (either Dharavandhoo or Kudahuvadhoo), travelers can take a speedboat transfer to their destination in Meemu Atoll. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
